This fine art collection has been created from actual clothing.
The fibers are saturated in porcelain slip, arranged to dry and then fired in a kiln. The project was started in 2011.
The fragility and translucency of porcelain captures fleeting memories.
Precious moments embody the spirit of each one-of-a-kind piece.
These porcelain treasures were once useful garments or doll clothes owned by a little person. Each has a story to tell!
The history of each piece is conveyed in the finishing process by using traditional glazes, underglazes,
experimental techniques, paints or collage. Each piece speaks for itself.
I choose to repurpose cast-aside garments, and incorporate found objects into many of the pieces.
This body of work echoes in tangible form the emotion associated with motherhood and childhood.
